Okay so I've been reading the craftgrrl livejournal and everyone seems to be making these record bowls. I finally broke down and decided to try it since everyone said they actually wouldn't set my house on fire or smell. I also found additional info on this site and this site. So I went to Salvation Army 5 minutes before they closed and picked up four albums for 25¢ each. One album had two records in it and the other had 3. Score! Unfortunately I didn't have the time to look though and find any particularily cheesy albums to use because they were yelling at me that the store was closing. But I did pick up Sonny & Cher Live in Las Vegas, and that's pretty damn corny. And I got the Singing Nun, because I have a nun fetish (don't ask).
Okay so first of all, here are the lucky contenders:
I heated the oven to 200°F and put the record on top of a bowl and put the whole thing on a cookie sheet so it would be easier to take in and out of the oven.
It says to put it in for 5 minutes, but I decided to take a peek after 2 and a half minutes:
It was definately starting to get soft but was not totally there yet.
